AWINSTM Legacy Interoperability
- Any-to-any radio connectivity
- UHF, VHF, 700-MHz, and 800-MHz interoperability
- Future P25 migration using ISSI Standard
First responders depend on their ability to communicate effectively to save lives. For too long though, disparities in technology and frequencies have made cross-agency communications a big challenge. Even with the migration to P25, full native interoperability is a long way off. But the ARINC Wireless Interoperable Network Solutions (AWINSTM) architecture changes all of that, effectively bridging the gap between UHF, VHF, 700-MHz, and 800-MHz users, allowing radios from one proprietary trunked system to talk to those from a different manufacturer and conventional users.
The AWINS architecture is highly scalable. As a distributed system there is almost no limit to the number of radio systems and users that can be connected. Using an IP network also removes any distance barriers, reaching out to a radio system on the other side of the state or even the country if required.
AWINS also allows phone and PC users interoperability with radio users, further enabling connectivity with whoever, wherever, during the most critical moments. Many enterprises utilize AWINS’ versatile, adaptable technology to centralize dispatch operations, lower operational costs, and increase effectiveness.
