Security is interwoven into every aspect of airport operations. ARINC supports the on-site radio technology used at most U.S. airports, and is an industry leader in providing the latest digital and encrypted radio networks for operations and security.

For passenger handling, ARINC has enhanced the security component of its iMUSE™ passenger automation system to support the data needed by today's developing passenger-identity technologies—from biometrics to smart kiosks. The iMUSE system also offers high-speed automated entry of passport data and related travel documents to expedite secure passenger handling.

ARINC is leading the development of new smart-card programs to preregister passengers and securely identify airport and airline employees. ARINC's Identity Management System (IdMS) uses secure biometric data such as fingerprints, hand scans, or iris images to authenticate the user's identity. The system expedites passenger movements from check-in (even off-airport check-in), through the screening to the gate, eliminating multiple verifications.

ARINC's technology also moves passenger baggage securely. It supports positive passenger-to-bag matching with computer-generated tags so that every bag—whether collected at the airport, at the hotel, or at home—is reconciled with a passenger.

To protect airport facilities and sensitive areas, ARINC draws from a full range of access control and intrusion detection technologies, including surveillance cameras and sensing by microwave, infrared, vibration, and e-field monitoring. ARINC local networks can immediately notify airport response centers of any possible threat.

And ARINC's ultrareliable AviNet^® network connects airports, airlines, and aviation authorities worldwide with the capability to move immigration data, reservations, travel documentation, clearances, and approval information. ARINC's Digital Signature service is also available to authenticate electronic messages and documents.
