PilotMate^® Communications

PilotMate allows easy ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore communications using an optional data link. The data link provides the handler with the accurate positions and headings of all other traffic vessels that have the PilotMate system. And, because it also supports communication with a variety of other information systems, it enables the display of non-PilotMate data, including:

• Information from vessels with AIS transponders other than PilotMate. (This requires the AIS transponder base station to be integrated with PilotMate's shore-based monitor station.)
• Weather, current, tide, and swell conditions obtained from NOAA's Physical Oceanographic Real-Time System (PORTS) or other meteorological and hydrological sources.
• VTS system information, such as acquired radar target icon position and course. Conversely, PilotMate position and heading information can be sent to a VTS system.
