GLOBALinkSM Flight Deck Applications

Value-Added ACARS Applications

When ARINC introduced the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) more than 30 years ago, the benefits of data link were immediate and widespread for airlines. Greater accuracy, faster operations, reduced costs—all of these contributed significantly to an evolutionary leap forward in aviation communications.

Today, ACARS fulfills many varied, critical messaging tasks airlines require for every flight. GLOBALink’s value-added data link messaging applications enhance real-time accurate information exchanges and provide vital displays and reports pilots utilize to increase operational safety and efficiency.

GLOBALink’s OpCenter—accessible anywhere via the internet—gives airlines a simple, intuitive message management interface to communicate with aircraft, air traffic service providers, and remote operations sites. Digital Automatic Terminal Information Services (D-ATIS) provide cockpit displays of routine airport operational instructions such as taxiing, avionics, frequency outages, and weather conditions.

The Centralized Flight Management Waypoint Reporting System (CFRS) automates aircraft positional reporting necessary when passing through flight information regions while Centralized Automatic Dependent Surveillance (CADS) allows FANS-equipped aircraft to send reports to any air traffic service provider or airline operations center. The Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) gateway provides the message formatting interface for air/ground data link networks and ATC systems.
