Airport Operations

Running today's airports is a complex challenge, given the increased number and type of aircraft, growing passenger traffic, and large number of flights—particularly in metropolitan areas. The challenge is further complicated by the additional security requirements—both in the air and on the ground—mandated since September 11, 2001.

Airplane at the gateARINC has been intimately involved in supporting airport operations for more than 60 years. We've worked closely with government agencies, independent facility operators, carriers, and a host of third-party service providers to develop proven solutions—like GateFlow®—that streamline a range of airport processes, increase passenger convenience, and save you money.

GateFlow is an electronic “traffic cop” that continuously tracks aircraft, gate, and concourse availability. It automatically schedules gate facilities in near real time. This allows airport personnel to get a step ahead in assigning departure and arrival gates and baggage carousels. GateFlow connects multiple workstations within the airport and can be seamlessly integrated with other airport systems—no matter how big the operation. The bottom line: aircraft spend less time on the runway burning fuel and passengers spend less time “stewing” on the ground.

The traveling public keeps its eyes on AirVUE™, our multimedia information manager that transmits arrival/departure times, gate assignments and other flight information to wireless devices throughout the airport. The XML-, video-, and Flash-capable technology sends flight data over the airport’s wireless web architecture, so passengers can view the data from any location using their PDAs, cell phones, or any Internet connection. With AirVUE, routine changes in gates, arrivals, departures, and other standard airline information is automatically displayed and distributed both on-site and off. In fact, passengers can check AirVUE from home or on the way to the airport, as long as they have Internet access.
