ARINC and Aviation Software Deliver a Major Interline Baggage Solution for Aero Port Services

Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Incorporated and Aviation Software, Inc. (ASI) today announced the successful launch of a real-time baggage tracking system for interline baggage at Los Angeles International Airport. The customer is Aero Port Services (APS), the interline baggage services provider at LAX.

The new tracking system combines GPS and airline data to report actual locations of interline bags in real time—the first scanning tracking system in the U.S. with this capability. As many as 43 airlines are expected to use the system, which went operational in October.

The technology is based on ASI’s commercial BagTrakTM software, with collaborative assistance provided by APS. ARINC is ASI’s preferred network integrator and provides required baggage service data via its global aviation network.

“APS serves all its customer airlines at LAX with reliable transport of passenger luggage,” stated Robert Yim, Chief Operating Officer of Aero Port Services. “Now we can provide an even higher level of service with accurate interline baggage tracking—as well as alert messaging, multi-directional communications, and immediate data availability—all tools not available anywhere else.”
