ARINC Delivers Advance Passenger Information (APIS) Service for Mexico's Customs Agency

June 4, 2009

Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Incorporated today announced the deployment of its Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) messaging service in support of Servicio de Administracion Tributaria (SAT) de México, the Mexico Customs Agency.

Industry-standard APIS messaging is part of the ARINC Electronic BordersSM security portfolio used by government agencies worldwide. ARINC’s Aviation Network Solutions Division developed and installed the new APIS service with full cooperation from the IT staff of SAT de Mexico. The service became operational June 4.

“We required an alternative APIS service that would interface seamlessly with our existing proprietary back-end data system, while fully meeting industry messaging standards,” stated Jose Marcos Garcia Nieto, Mexico SAT Project Director.

“ARINC greatly appreciates the cooperation we received from SAT de México,” stated Yun Chong, ARINC Vice President, Aviation Network Solutions. “Their IT staff was extraordinarily helpful and professional, and we found their design of the custom-built back-end used for data processing to be a remarkable achievement.”

ARINC’s participation in Mexico is a direct result of airline requests for an alternative APIS messaging provider to add competitiveness and a higher level of customer service. Chong said, “ARINC is eager to further develop its relationship with SAT de Mexico by assisting SAT authorities in reaching their future Border Control objectives. As a prime contractor to SAT de Mexico, ARINC is committed to providing network transport technology, messaging service, and message format translations in an efficient, reliable, and cost-effective manner.”

APIS messaging is increasingly demanded by government agencies around the world because it provides pre-arrival and pre-departure manifest data on all passengers and crew members, improving the security of national borders.

ARINC Electronic Borders provides a portfolio of solutions to monitor and control the traffic of passengers entering or leaving a country via Air, Sea, or Ground. ARINC can tailor and scale each solution to meet specific customer requirements, while also meeting industry standards sought by international trade organizations and governments. The SAT de Mexico project signifies another important milestone in ARINC’s aim to become the region’s premier provider of Electronic Borders solutions.
