New ARINC Station in Panama Enhances GLOBALinkSM HFDL in Caribbean & South America Regions

April 6, 2009

Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Incorporated today announced it has deployed a new High Frequency Data Link (HFDL) station in Panama to enhance its GLOBALinkSM HFDL coverage.

The new station was installed recently with cooperation and logistical assistance from Panama’s Autoridad Aeronautica Civil, and with support from Copa Airlines, an extensive user of this service.

The new station reinforces ARINC’s HFDL signal coverage in the Caribbean and along the Pacific coast of Central and South America, adding an extra channel for increased messaging capacity.

"We would like to thank our good friends at Autoridad Aeronautica Civil and Copa Airlines for their support in making this new ground station possible in a very short time frame," stated Ron Hawkins, ARINC Vice President, Commercial Aviation Solutions. “ARINC is dedicated to supporting aviation throughout Latin America, and this station will improve HF communication on Central American and South American routes.”

David Lindskoog, Vice President, Flight Operations, Copa Airlines, said “This new ARINC data link station enables us to increase the effectiveness of communication and data transfer between our operations control center and our aircraft along all our routes, resulting in more efficient service and improved on-time performance.”

ARINC’s GLOBALink high frequency aeronautical voice and data link services are delivered over a network of 15 HF stations in key locations around the world. These HF services are uniquely cost-effective, delivering seamless coverage even on the remote Polar Routes. ARINC’s HF services provide an attractive alternative to more costly satellite-based communications offerings.
