Maryland-Based Technology Center to Test Interoperable Public Safety Solutions

Las Vegas, Nevada—ARINC Incorporated, in cooperation with technology partners including EADS Secure Networks North America, a division of PlantCML®, today announced the activation of the ARINC Interoperability Test and Demonstration Center (ITDC) located in Annapolis, Maryland.

The purpose of the new center is to provide customers, partners, and technology vendors with a platform for testing the capability, reliability, and interoperability of their communications products and solutions.

The ARINC ITDC will be equipped with many Public Safety and Homeland Security voice, video, and data technologies, including trunked and conventional land mobile radio systems (including APCO P25), broadband wireless, video surveillance, and physical security platforms. Several technology manufacturers have committed to the test and demonstration center, providing communications consoles, subscriber equipment, cameras, and alarm systems.

“Technologies will advance rapidly as interoperability standards improve,” stated Marvin Ingram, Senior Director for ARINC Public Safety Systems, “ARINC will provide a non-competitive environment for validating standards compliance and compatibility with legacy technologies.”

ARINC is currently implementing communications and security solutions nationwide including radio interoperability systems in the states of Washington, Virginia, and Massachusetts. The company is also designing, integrating, and installing advanced interoperable video monitoring equipment at strategically selected stations of the Baltimore Maryland Metro Subway, the Baltimore Light Rail system, and the MARC train service. Additionally, ARINC provides integrated security solutions for nuclear electric power facilities across the U.S. including Maryland-based Constellation Energy.
