ARINC's Contract Is Renewed for Passenger Technologies at Australia's Melbourne Airport

May 20, 2008

Singapore—ARINC Incorporated today announced its long-time customer, the Melbourne Australia CUTE Club, has renewed and upgraded ARINC’s contract for common-use passenger systems at Melbourne Airport.

ARINC will continue to provide its industry-leading iMUSETM common-use platform for passenger check-in and boarding at Melbourne, as well as the ARINC BagLinkTM baggage messaging system. The renewed contract covers a five-year period.

“ARINC’s iMUSE and BagLink technologies have served us well for the past five years, and we expect they will continue to meet our needs as requirements expand,” stated Seamus Hill, Chairman of the MEL CUTE Club. “New system capabilities under this contract will provide even more advanced, secure, and stable common-use operations to meet our growing needs in this rapidly evolving industry.”

“MEL will soon benefit from cutting-edge technologies such as support for wireless connectivity and simplified 2D barcode printing of boarding passes, for enhanced operational abilities and security,” stated Randy Pizzi, ARINC Vice President and Managing Director, Asia/Pacific. “ARINC is gratified by this renewal award, and very pleased with the confidence MEL CUTE Club places in our services.”

ARINC's advanced Multi-User System Environment (MUSE®) technology allows multiple airlines to share a suite of airport check-in desks and boarding gates for maximum operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. ARINC’s iMUSE is a browser-based version of MUSE technology that supports both IP and legacy host systems. It can be deployed on both desktop workstations and handheld terminals.

ARINC's BagLink is an advanced message distribution technology that enables airport baggage sorting systems to properly direct baggage to aircraft without delay. BagLink's sophisticated communications server collects baggage-routing messages from multiple airline hosts and distributes the messages efficiently to sortation and other airport systems for further processing.

Melbourne is Australia’s second largest airport and a major passenger and freight gateway to the country. With 20 international and 6 domestic carriers, its annual passenger traffic flow surpasses 20 million and is growing at a 7% rate. Renowned for its world-class facilities, the airport’s international and domestic terminals are conveniently located together under a single roof. Melbourne Airport is consistently graded high in passenger surveys, and has been ranked among the world's five best airports. For more information, visit the web site at www.melbourneairport.com.
