Pinnacle Selects ARINC for Flight Communications on New Delta Connection Service

May 14, 2008

Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Incorporated today announced it has been awarded a comprehensive flight communications contract for the new Delta Connection regional passenger service operated by Pinnacle Airlines, Inc.

Pinnacle launched its service in early January and has ordered a total of 16 new Bombardier CRJ-900 jets. ARINC was able to deploy a comprehensive air-ground messaging solution for the carrier in only six weeks.

ARINC is providing Pinnacle with industry-leading GLOBALink/VHF data link communications, as well as the value-added Digital Automatic Terminal Information Service. Pinnacle is now using ARINC’s OpCenterSM message management system with Intelligent Message Broker capability to host predeparture clearance messages and for advanced capability in message routing.

ARINC has also integrated Pinnacle’s Lufthansa Integrated Dispatch Operation (LIDO) flight planning engine, giving the carrier enhanced data exchange capability.

“We were familiar with ARINC’s services and technical depth, but their willingness to react on very short notice and integrate the LIDO flight planning application with our communications was a major factor in choosing them for this important work,” stated David Parry, Director of SOC, Pinnacle Airlines.

“ARINC welcomes this significant award of new business from a very good customer,” stated Ron Hawkins, ARINC Vice President, Commercial Aviation Solutions. “We partnered fully with the Pinnacle IT staff in order to deploy a state-of-the-art messaging solution in only six weeks to support their service launch.”

ARINC’s OpCenter is a unique web-based messaging service. It provides flexible routing, delivery, storage, and forwarding of all air-ground messages and streamlines operational communications. Because it is hosted off-site by ARINC, OpCenter saves airlines the expense of setting up dedicated servers and proprietary e-mail systems. In addition, large airlines have adopted OpCenter as a backup to their main computers, to allow more flexible scheduling of maintenance downtime.

Pinnacle Airlines Corporation, based in Memphis, Tennessee, is a major U.S. operator of regional air passenger services. The company already flies for a majority of U.S. legacy carriers including Northwest, Continental, United Airlines, and US Airways, and it will operate the new Delta Connection service through its subsidiary Pinnacle Airlines, Incorporated.
