ARINC Wins Contract for New Self-Service Kiosks from Maryland Motor Vehicle AdministrationApril 3, 2008Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Incorporated has been awarded a contract by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) to design and install a new generation of self-service kiosks to enhance MVA customer services. ARINC will provide as many as 54 of the new machines statewide, primarily at MVA full-service offices. Other public locations may be decided in the future. ARINC will install and maintain the new kiosks under a one-year contract valued at $3.5 million. The company will also update the MVA’s web site, where similar services are available on-line. ARINC Managed Services, LLC, the company’s IT support subsidiary, will provide the installation and maintenance services for the kiosk system. “The overall goal of the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration is to minimize customer wait times and to improve operating efficiency,” stated John Kuo, MVA Administrator. “Our previous kiosk deployments were smaller but well-received, and we are confident the new expanded system will be an even bigger hit with the public this year.” The new kiosks will offer quick service on simple transactions such as title replacement, registration renewal, and change of address. Machines located at MVA full-service offices will accept cash, check, credit, and debit cards. “ARINC has provided kiosks for the world’s airlines for many years, and we have chosen technology partners on this contract who include many of the industry’s leaders,” stated Marvin Ingram, ARINC Senior Director, Public & Enterprise Solutions. “We are delighted to win this important work against stiff competition, especially in our home state of Maryland.” ARINC is designing a modular, self-contained, fully integrated kiosk with tamper-resistant housing and expansion capability. A full-scale model will be available after initial design approval, and ARINC plans to complete the deployment statewide by the end of 2008. ARINC Incorporated, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group, provides communications, engineering and integration solutions for commercial, defense and government customers worldwide.
