Navy Awards Navigation Systems Contract to ARINC Engineering ServicesMarch 26, 2008Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Engineering Services, LLC has been awarded a one-year prime contract by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center San Diego (SSC San Diego) for engineering and technical support services. The $4,833,346 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract includes four one-year options, which could bring the cumulative value to $26,082,811 if fully exercised. ARINC was the incumbent on a predecessor contract. Under the new agreement, ARINC Engineering Services and a team of 12 subcontractors will support SSC San Diego's Navigation and Applied Sciences Department with integration, design, and analysis services for emerging technologies in navigation, air surveillance, and reconnaissance. “ARINC and its team bring a depth of skill and expertise to all the task requirements under this contract,” stated J.R. Scherer, Director, ARINC Navigation Systems. “We are extremely pleased that the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center San Diego recognizes these capabilities and has chosen to place confidence in us once again.” The base performance period of the new contract started in January, and three task orders have already been submitted for award. The range of task requirements under the prime contract includes development of emerging navigation technologies; evaluating the impact of evolving tactics/techniques on the integrity of navigation signals; system integration, engineering, design, testing, and analysis for emerging navigation and C4ISR technology on ships, aircraft, land vehicles, and ground stations; laboratory system enhancements to evaluate enabling technology; and identifying navigation-based issues that can threaten or enhance Homeland Security. SSC San Diego is responsible for the development of technology to collect, transmit, process, display, and manage information essential to successful military operations. The Center develops the capabilities that allow decision-makers of the Navy, and increasingly of the joint services, to carry out their operational missions and protect their forces. ARINC’s team consists of nine small business and three large business subcontractors.
