SKYLinkSM Will Expand Service with Coverage of Caribbean, South & Central America

October 8, 2007

SKYLink 2007 Projected CoverageAnnapolis, Maryland—ARINC DirectSM today mapped out a major coverage expansion of its SKYLinkSM in-flight communications service, the world’s only satellite broadband service for business jets.

With its strategic partner and SKYLink investor SES AMERICOM, ARINC plans to introduce fully operational SKYLink Ku-band coverage of the entire Caribbean flight region and substantial coverage of Central and South America during Q4 2007.

ARINC’s SKYLink service has been operational over North America since 2005, and service was introduced in Europe in September 2006. The space segment for the Caribbean and expanded Americas coverage will be provided by SES AMERICOM through a new ground station located in Miami, FL. In addition, ARINC is conducting Beta testing on its SKYLink coverage of the North Atlantic tracks and will be offering that service by the end of this year.

“These coverage enhancements will make it possible for SKYLink customers to fly from central Europe to North America, and from North America to Central and South America, without ever losing access to e-mail and Internet applications,” stated Bob Hanley, ARINC Vice President, Business Aviation Solutions. “We are pleased to be on track to add our fourth SKYLink satellite region in less than a three-year time frame.”

“Providing ‘in flight’ connectivity to owners and passengers of business jets is becoming  a ‘must have’ service for business executives on long-haul flights, and AMERICOM is delighted to provide the bandwidth and infrastructure to facilitate SKYLink’s growth and expansion,” said Orlando Skelton, Vice President Enterprise Services, SES AMERICOM. In addition to complete coverage of the Caribbean, SKYLink’s expansion will include Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Colombia, Ecuador, northern Bolivia, and northwestern Brazil. Most of Mexico already falls under SKYLink’s North America coverage.
