In a Milestone, Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport Deploys the First CUSS Kiosks in RussiaAugust 2, 2007Annapolis, MarylandARINC Incorporated today announced it has delivered the first common-use (CUSS) airline passenger kiosks ever deployed in the Russian Federation. The nine ARINC SelfServTM check-in kiosks are installed at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. Passengers on KLM Royal Dutch Airlines are already using the new kiosks, and other carriers are expected to join the common-use system in time for summer travel season. Sheremetyevo Airport is the most advanced terminal facility in Russia, and home to more than 100 international and domestic Russian airlines. Many of these already share the check-in counters and departure gates equipped with ARINC’s i MUSETM common-use platform. “I am sure our passengers will embrace the level of convenience and service these new kiosks offer,” stated Igor Khokhlov, Director of Information Technology, Sheremetyevo International Airport. “ARINC’s next generation of passenger automation is very much part of our strategy—to be the leading and most modern airport in Russia.” ARINC SelfServ is recognized as an efficient and economical solution to the growing demand for self-service check-ins. When airlines share airport kiosks, costs are reduced, and passengers can use the nearest available kiosk, avoiding long check-in lines. “ARINC is honored to play the lead role in providing the passenger technologies for Sheremetyevo Airport,” stated Ed Montgomery, ARINC Managing Director, EMEA. “Sheremetyevo is pointing the way forward within the Russian Federation by installing the most advanced passenger services.” Keith Margerison, Senior Director, ARINC Airport Factory, stated, “Our work for Moscow Sheremetyevo magnifies the worldwide acceptance of ARINC’s SelfServ technology. It also confirms ARINC’s dominance in providing the world with large-scale CUSS installations serving multiple international airlines.” ARINC SelfServ leads the global market for CUSS kiosks with some of the world’s largest installations at LAS, NRT, and MAN. ARINC SelfServ technology fully meets the IATA CUSS standards for common-use self-service operation. Sheremetyevo airport handles 12.7 million passengers a year, more than 60% of them on international flights. In addition to the new, state-of-the-art Terminal 1, highway improvements and a new rapid rail line from Moscow are expected to make airline travel more convenient.
