ARINC to Offer Streamlined Command and Control Solutions for Nuclear PlantsJune 14, 2007Annapolis, MarylandCutting-edge technologies to enhance operations of command and control centers for America’s nuclear power plants will be exhibited by ARINC Incorporated at the 2007 National Nuclear Security Conference June 24-28 in San Antonio, Texas. ARINC will demonstrate its enhanced Advanced Information Management (AIM®) centralized control and monitoring system, now featuring simplified command and control visualization technology. The demonstrations will highlight a combination of technologies never before offered to the nuclear security industry. ARINC has integrated Imtech’s Activu scalable network-based software solution into the AIM platform to simplify the access, viewing, and sharing of information between site personnel at nuclear facilities. Utilizing Activu software, visual information from any source (e.g. data applications, cameras, instruments and detection systems) can be aggregated and "visually integrated" on high resolution displays. With enhanced visibility of information, especially alarm alerts, nuclear facilities can more effectively and efficiently monitor security components at a centralized location. Simultaneously these compiled information views can be displayed on high resolution display panels to maximize available space and while also ensuring greater depth in situational awareness. “With dynamic access to video and real time data in an alarm station environment, users can now benefit from a consolidated common operational picture directly on the desktop. The Activu software technology greatly enhances the command and control environment,” stated Frank Koren, ARINC Business Development Manager. AIM is an integrated platform of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and robust software that integrates with virtually all types of security subsystems for seamless centralized control of intrusion detection systems, fire control systems, access control systems, CCTV surveillance/video motion detection systems, intelligent sensors, biometric devices, radar systems, GIS systems, remotely operated weapons systems, and other advanced security technology. The National Nuclear Security Conference is an opportunity for security professionals to gather and exchange ideas and participate in discussions on the latest industry trends and Nuclear Regulatory Commission developments. Conference participants have access to vendors on the leading edge of security technology. The Conference is an activity of the Nuclear Energy Institute.
