ARINC Continues Its Sustainment Role in Protection of National Capital Region

June 5, 2007

Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Engineering Services, LLC has been awarded a follow-on contract valued at $59.4 million to continue supporting the National Capital Region’s Integrated Air Defense System (NCR-IADS).

An activity of NORAD, NCR-IADS protects the U.S. National Capital Region against air threats. ARINC’s effort provides mission-critical network infrastructure sustainment support to North American Air Defense Headquarters, Continental NORAD region.

“ARINC has been intimately involved in supporting the NCR-IADS mission since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001,” stated Barry F. Schwoerer, ARINC Vice President, Advanced Aviation & Maritime Engineering. “NCR-IADS is a complex ‘system of systems,’ and the ARINC Team continues to work aggressively on a variety of fronts to sustain, evolve, and improve overall capabilities.”

Work under the follow-on contract will be performed by ARINC’s Coastal Systems Engineering Department, located in Panama City Beach, FL. According to Schwoerer, the company’s depth of experience was a principal factor in obtaining the award.

“ARINC’s involvement beginning with the initial deployment, our understanding of the mission, and our systems engineering, integration, and communications competencies are what make ARINC the best choice to continue supporting this critical Homeland Defense mission,” he added.

Subcontractors supporting ARINC on the NCR-IADS contract include Arnold Group, LLC, Chenega Integrated Systems, LLC, L3-Sonoma EO, Massachusetts Electric Construction, Mercury Solutions, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, Ritter Architects, Trident Systems Incorporated, and Zel Technologies, LLC.
