ARINC and Convergent Will Update Emergency Procedures for the KC-130J

June 4, 2007

Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Engineering Services, LLC, today announced it has been awarded an 18-month contract to provide the United States Marine Corps with an overhaul of the emergency procedures section of the KC-130J’s flight manual (NATOPS).

ARINC as prime has teamed with subcontractor Convergent Knowledge Solutions, LLC on the contract. Convergent is a pioneer in procedures development and error management in high risk industries.

The contract is a first for ARINC and the second of its kind for Convergent, which is currently completing similar work for the U.S. Coast Guard. The companies will upgrade the manual’s OEM procedures, making them compatible with industry-standard, two-pilot, glass-cockpit flight procedures and the recently updated normal operating procedures.

The contract also covers reformatting of tactical and operational procedures, to bring the entire KC-130J NATOPS manual up to the highest level of two-pilot, highly automated aircraft procedures. This is similar to work Convergent has already performed for the Coast Guard’s version of the Lockheed-Martin C-130J.
