Japan's Highly Successful Airport, Centrair at Chubu, to Install ARINC SelfServ Kiosks for International Passengers

February 6, 2007

Singapore—Japan's newest major airport has selected the ARINC SelfServ™ common-use kiosk technology to enhance its international passenger check-in operations. Centrair, Central Japan International Airport located at Chubu, recently accepted the common-use (CUSS) kiosk proposal of ARINC Incorporated.

Centrair already uses the ARINC iMUSE™ check-in and boarding system for its international passengers. Installed in 2005, the ARINC system contributed greatly to the successful opening of the airport, and today it supports the growing flight schedules of 31 international airlines. By introducing new ARINC SelfServ kiosks this year, Centrair will provide added convenience for its international travelers and further enhance its standing as a state-of-the-art passenger facility. ARINC Managed Services, LLC (AMS) has been providing support for the check-in technology at Chubu since the airport's opening, and will extend its onsite support and maintenance service to the new CUSS kiosks as well.

“Our airport handles more than 12 million passengers annually, and we require IT systems that are extremely reliable and robust. I am glad to report ARINC's original iMUSE system has proven itself to be a very stable platform,” stated Mr. Yutaka Miyashita, Manager, Facilities Division, Facilities Planning Department, Centrair. “It is with confidence that we are again asking ARINC to design and deploy our new CUSS kiosks for the benefit of our international airline customers and passengers.”

“ARINC is very grateful to Centrair for this important and strategic project,” said Randy Pizzi, ARINC Vice President & Managing Director, Asia/Pacific. “With SelfServ and iMUSE technology Centrair will be well prepared to meet tomorrow's demands. ARINC will continue to support Centrair in all its future growth and modernization plans.”

ARINC SelfServ CUSS kiosk technology allows multiple airlines to check in passengers using a single set of shared kiosks. These kiosks can be conveniently located in open public areas or near specific airline check-in desks. Shared kiosks allow airports and airlines to reduce costs while giving passengers greater convenience. The ARINC SelfServ kiosk system at Centrair is planned for operation in March 2007.

ARINC is recognized as the world's leading innovator in common-use passenger technology. Its MUSE® family of passenger systems is found at more than 100 airports worldwide, and used by 260 airlines carrying more than 300 million passengers per year.

Centrair is Japan's third major international gateway, with an initial design capacity of 13 million domestic and international passengers. Its runway is capable of handling today’s large aircraft. The authority responsible for Centrair is the Central Japan International Airport Company, Ltd., (CJIAC). CJIAC is jointly owned by the National Government, Aichi Prefectural Government, Gifu Prefectural Government, Mie Prefectural Government, Nagoya Municipal Government, 963 private companies, a chamber of commerce, and a number of individuals.
