ARINC Wins Competition, Remains Common-Use Provider of Choice at San Francisco InternationalOctober 10, 2006Annapolis, MarylandTen years after launching one of the world’s first successful common-use passenger systems for busy San Francisco International Airport, ARINC Incorporated has again won the airport’s common-use technology contract in competitive bidding. Under a new 3-year contract, ARINC will refresh the airport’s common-use check-in and boarding gate systems which now serve 27 airlines at the International Terminal. ARINC will install its latest upgraded iMUSE™ technology for enhanced operations. The project includes upgrades to data centers and replacement of the agent workstations, boarding pass printers, and Boarding Gate Readers. “San Francisco International was our first major installation, and their leadership helped accelerate the common-use revolution at North American airports,” stated Mike Picco, ARINC Vice President, Airport Solutions. “We are extremely pleased to receive this new contract, and delighted our good relationship can continue.” ARINC's pioneering technology allowed airlines to share check-in desks and boarding gates for maximum efficiency and optimal use of resources with better ROI. ARINC’s newer iMUSE technology is browser-based, to take advantage of powerful, convenient system interfaces and tools available in today’s Internet environment. “This upgrade to iMUSE will be largely transparent to the airlines, but they will gain the advantages of faster throughput and the latest Windows-based applications,” Picco added. “Behind the scenes, administrators will have the latest technologies for managing the check-in environment.” “We look forward to continuing our association with ARINC,” said John Payne, Chief Information Officer, San Francisco International Airport.
