ARINC Demos New AIM® Security Features, Powerful IP-Based Video Capability

September 29, 2006

GIS Interface in the AIM SystemAnnapolis, Maryland—ARINC Incorporated today announced a major enhancement of its industry-leading AIM® Advanced Information Management System, including new interfaces for geolocation, video analysis, and biometrics. Ease-of-use features and advanced video handling have also been added.

ARINC demonstrated the new AIM capabilities at the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) 2006 conference, September 25-28 in San Diego, CA.

A new interface to the popular ArcGISTM Geographic Information Systems (GIS) platform from ESRI now permits AIM users to have continuous GIS location mapping of events or moving subjects on the GIS engine most widely used by government and military security. With exact coordinates of targets on the ground, personnel can improve situational awareness for better assessment, mitigation, and resolution of potential threats.

Also announced is a scaled-down interface that extends AIM usability to hand-held devices and small-footprint Tablet PCs running Windows® XP. First responders on the move can receive voice, video and data for real-time decision making on the front lines. An XML interface is now available for the popular Cernium PerceptTrak® video analytical engine used in government, military, and enterprise security systems. In addition, the AIM platform now supports a direct TCP/IP interface to Ingersoll Rand’s ID3D Hand Geometry Units.

“These significant additions virtually constitute a new release of the AIM platform,” stated Frank Koren, ARINC Business Development Manager, Transportation Solutions. “AIM now offers greatly enhanced power and usefulness for government, military, enterprise, and commercial security applications.”

AIM application developers have also introduced a higher level of integration to the flexible BroadwareTM  Video Management System. The AIM control console now allows operators to perform interactive real-time IP-based CCTV surveillance, and to conduct integrated alarm, pre-alarm, and post-alarm analysis.

The AIM system provides superior alarm handling, automation, and video storage compared with traditional CCTV systems using switchers and tape-based DVRs. AIM operators can quickly retrieve and circulate full video frames and footage over standard corporate IP networks, because AIM uses an open-platform COTS design.
