Atlantic Southeast Airlines Taps ARINC for GLOBALink Service, Hosted Messaging, Paperless DataMay 31, 2006Annapolis, MarylandARINC Incorporated has been selected by Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SkyWest Inc., to provide a complete package of integrated air/ground communications services. The contract was awarded following a competitive bidding process. ARINC will provide ASA with digital data link service over the nationwide ARINC GLOBALink/VHFSM network using efficient VDLM2 digital protocol. In addition, ARINC’s web-based OpCenterSM hosted messaging service will manage ASA’s delivery, processing and retrieval of air/ground and ground/ground operational messages. ARINC will also integrate a number of paperless data applications for ASA, including extensive ground maintenance data collection and weight-and-balance applications. “This is the most advanced package of data applications ever specified by a U.S. regional carrier,” stated Karla Cadden, Marketing Director, ARINC Aviation Solutions. “It will allow ASA to achieve new operating efficiencies, from the ramp to cruising altitudes.” As part of the service offering, ARINC will provide on-site implementation, engineering expertise, and applications support for ASA during deployment of the new services. ASA has started installing the required VDLM2 avionics on its fleet of more than 140 CRJ-200 and CRJ-700 aircraft, and full deployment is expected to take 15 months. “We chose ARINC’s proposal because it went far beyond the traditional data link contract and solved several immediate requirements for us, including support for IT implementation, integration of maintenance information, service support engineering, and our industry interface and host customization,” said Anthony DiNota, ASA’s Vice President of Maintenance. “ARINC truly addressed the big picture for us.” Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc. and provides scheduled service to destinations in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
