ARINC, Hirsch Electronics Announce Interoperability—Plan Security Demo at ISC West 2006

March 22, 2006

Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Incorporated, a leader in high-level command and control systems for mission-critical facilities, and Hirsch Electronics, a leader in advanced building security management systems, today announced a successful integration of their major technologies. ARINC has signed with Hirsch as a distributor and strategic partner, and the two companies plan a joint technology demonstration April 5-7 at the ISC West Expo 2006 in Las Vegas, NV.

ARINC’s AIMTM Command and Control platform is used for access, command and control by nuclear power plants, commuter rail lines, secure government facilities, military installations, seaports, and airports. Hirsch’s VelocityTM product is a leading integrated security management system used by government, banks, hospitals, industrial plants, office buildings, and other venues. Both systems are designed with open architecture, making integration simple and robust.

AIM is the enabling environment, encapsulating and presenting information as a common operational picture. Hirsch’s Velocity exchanges security data with AIM, giving customers unprecedented ability to integrate mission-critical communication and data with Velocity’s access control, video surveillance, alarm monitoring, and badging.

“In today’s command and control environment, a supervisory entity must expose, portray and display data components from multiple subsystems—then analyze, store, and forward them,” stated Frank Koren, Business Development Manager, ARINC Surface Transportation and Security Systems. “The open design of the Hirsch Velocity system, with XML as a standard for communications, makes this goal achievable."

“With the Hirsch Velocity system, exposing the many underlying data elements to the AIM supervisory platform is achieved through an ‘interoperable environment,’ ” stated John Piccininni, Vice President of Sales for Hirsch Electronics. “Both systems can operate with no loss of data or system performance.”

An ongoing joint demonstration at Hirsch Electronics’ Booth #25039 at ISC West is planned to include: alarm management with processing and synchronization; execution of generated command sets under pre-set definitions without user involvement; device control with centralized output control and processing; badge query with exposure of personnel badge credentials and badge-holder pictures; and database synchronization ensuring database integrity for system transactions.
