SKYLinkSM Satellite Broadband To Be Distributed By Landmark Aviation in Business Jet Aftermarket

March 8, 2006

Annapolis, Maryland—One of North America's largest business aviation service providers, Landmark Aviation, will distribute SKYLinkSM by ARINC Direct, the world’s first ultra-high speed satellite broadband communications system for business aircraft. Landmark Aviation, formerly known as Garrett/Piedmont Hawthorne/Associated, will sell and install SKYLink in the North American corporate jet aftermarket.

The company will offer SKYLink retrofit installations for a range of large-cabin corporate jets. Landmark Aviation has a network of fixed base operations (FBO), aircraft completion, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul service centers at 43 locations in North America.

“Ultra-high speed satellite communications, like SKYLink’s in-flight services, will likely become a business requirement for corporate aircraft within a few years,” said Mike Anderson, Director of Avionics at Landmark Aviation. “SKYLink equipment and service packages represent a great value for operators in this newest of communications technologies.”

SKYLink service turns a business aircraft into a fully-connected “office in the sky,” with ultra-high speed Ku-band connectivity from the ramp to cruising altitude. A wide range of data-intensive business applications is available, including high-speed Internet access, E-mail, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), corporate Intranet, and newly announced Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony and fully-managed Fax over IP (FoIP) services.

“Landmark Aviation is respected throughout North America for the highest quality aircraft modification services for corporate aviation,” stated Dave Poltorak, ARINC Vice President of Business Aviation Services. “We welcome Landmark as a SKYLink distributor and feel its national standing will accelerate the adoption of SKYLink service across all of business aviation.”

SKYLink coverage is already available across North America, and service for European countries, the Middle East, and the North Atlantic flight tracks is anticipated this year.

Headquartered in Tempe, Arizonia, Landmark Aviation was created in August 2004 by the Carlyle Group, the world's largest private investment firm. The company is one of North America's largest providers of comprehensive services for the business aviation industry. With 43 locations in North America, the company offers a full range of fixed base operations, maintenance, repair and overhaul, aircraft charter, sales and management and large aircraft completions.
