ARINC Team Recognized by Defense Agencies for DMSMS Programs and Support

June 25, 2005

Annapolis, Maryland—An engineering team from ARINC Engineering Services, LLC has been honored for its work in helping the U.S. military fight the critical problems of parts obsolescence and shortages—known as DMSMS, or Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages.

The entire ARINC DMSMS team received recognition for its active involvement in the Air Force’s B-2 Bomber DMSMS Program, widely recognized as a successful example of proactive DMSMS planning. John Becker, of the Office of the Assistant Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Logistics Plans and Programs, presented ARINC’s technical experts with one of several Department of Defense DMSMS Team Awards at the 2005 Conference on DMSMS, held recently in Nashville, Tennessee.

In addition to the team award, Charles M. Marshall, an ARINC Senior Analyst, was presented an individual certificate for his role as a subject matter expert coordinating activities at the DMSMS Conference. David G. Robinson of the Defense Supply Center, Columbus, OH, presented the award on behalf of the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency.

“Parts obsolescence and shortages are critical problems affecting virtually all aging systems today, from the design stage through long-term maintenance and support,” stated Marshall. “ARINC Engineering Services intends to remain a leader in providing the Department of Defense and industry with services and tools to offset the effects of DMSMS.”

Marshall also credited others for the success of this year’s DMSMS event. “ARINC had the support of subject matter experts from the Defense Supply Center, other government offices, and from contractors—all working together as a team,” he stated.
